According to the globally accepted principle that true education is best imparted through one’s mother tongue, the Federation of Eighteen Mother-Tamil Schools, which has been functioning in Tamil Nadu for nearly 33 years without any commercial motive, is known as the Mother-Tamil Educational Initiative.
Anything that is not conveyed in the mother tongue does not truly reach ordinary people; and even if it does reach them, it does not bring them the full benefit. This holds true for education as well. Across the world, all great leaders who loved their fellow human beings, built relationships with them, felt compassion for their suffering, stood firm in their convictions, faced enmity without fear, gave generously, inspired the spirit of freedom, gathered people together, and achieved victories through struggle—all of them realized these ideals through their mother tongue.

To preserve Mother Tamil, and through it to safeguard the Tamil community, is not a task that can be carried out by a few individuals or a small group. It is an unavoidable responsibility that must be shouldered collectively by the entire Tamil community.
In order to systematically receive and utilize the financial contributions of the Tamil community, all 18 schools have jointly established the Mother-Tamil Educational Mission Trust. This trust has been duly registered with the approval of the government. Contributions made to the trust are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
